Mastercraft score a Tri-umph!!The New Aviva stadium is the first purpose built sporting venue of its kind in Ireland and the first UEFA Elite Stadium replacing the original Lansdowne Road Stadium. Costing in the region of £330 million to construct it sits proudly atop the Dublin 4 landscape and is a gleaming modern masterpiece of innovation, design, and engineering. It will host the 2011 Europa League Final and the home fixtures for the national rugby team.

Mastercraft were initially appointed in July 2009 to carry out installation works on behalf of HCI on this magnificent stadium. Mastercraft were contracted to fit out the Hospitality Suites and surrounding areas of the most prestigious Level 4 of the stadium used predominantly for high level and corporate entertainment. This level incorporates 36 individual private Hospitality Suites each accommodating between 12 and 50 people in complete luxury with an outstanding view of proceedings on the pitch below. These suites were a unique purpose design by HCI.

On Level 2, hidden in the West Stand is a restaurant capable of handling up to 450 guests. This is the Presidents Suite, a focal point within the stadium, again fitted out by Mastercraft and using a uniquely engineered design from HCI. A suspended oak Parklex ceiling with absolutely no visible fixings perfectly mirrors the semi-solid oak Parklex floor below and is finished beautifully with oak wall-panelling.

In the East Stand is the Escalator Surround, a four storey masterpiece of French book-matched oak panelling with shadow lines running continuously throughout the four storeys and picking up on the details of the two escalators and the premium bar above.

Whilst on site, Mastercraft were also head-hunted to take over not only the installation of every toilet cubicle in the stadium, but also the fitting of each of the doors and frames. This put great pressure on the leadership and squad but they still managed to bring each part of the installation from far behind program to complete ahead of the deadline at the end of May 2010.

On Level Zero, in an area seen only by Stadium Staff and the stars of the pitch is the Players and VVIP entrances, an archway of invisibly fixed HPL oak panelling worthy of the names that pass through it en route to state of the art changing rooms, press conference room and medical rooms all second to none and fitted out by Mastercraft. The Players Areas were fitted out in 80% high gloss finish units with oak finished storage compartments for each player. The press conference room was taken from cold bare shuttered concrete walls to a fine finish of lacquered wall panels lined with acoustic oak batons. The medical rooms throughout the building were supplied and fitted by Mastercraft and have received high accolade from the biggest names in the business.

Owing to our hard-work ethic and capability, John Williams of SISK (the principal contractor on the project) was quoted as saying “Mastercraft Construction were a vital company who got the job over the line! Their professionalism and attitude to the works was excellent.”

The first rugby match, a combined provinces match, took place in the stadium on Saturday 31st July and the first soccer match took place on Wednesday 4th August between Manchester United and a League of Ireland Select.
