The Directors

Dermot McCloskey
Dermot is a founding partner of the company and was appointed as a Director in 2000 when the company became incorporated. He has over thirty years experience in the construction industry, having served his time as a joiner from 1973. Over his career Dermot has been involved in some of the provinces’ most prestigious buildings and has built a reputation as perfectionist with his attention to detail. His motto, “do it right, do it once”, sums up his meticulous nature. In more recent years, Dermot has spearheaded the company’s property development division and completed many residential schemes throughout the Belfast area.

Raymond O’Kane
Being a founding partner in Mastercraft and director when the company became incorporated in 2000, Raymond has amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience within the industry. He has been involved in some of Northern Ireland’s most significant construction projects from cost planning to completion stages. He has taken the company from a level of operating 2 to 3 contracts concurrently to that of 20 plus contracts simultaneously. In more recent times Raymond has headed up a Mastercraft team to construct residential developments for other clients on a commercial basis such as Saintfield Mill and Riverside Mill in Antrim.


Purchasing Manager

James Kerlin
James comes from a management background, spanning over 3 decades within the construction industry that has covered a wide spectrum of commercial, residential, social and healthcare projects. He has extensive experience in the procurement of materials and all associated aspects, such as liaising with architects, clients, budget management, etc. James has overall responsibility for sourcing and purchasing materials within the company and as such has become an invaluable member of the team.


Quantity Surveyor

Denis Waterworth
Denis is an extremely accomplished quantity surveyor having worked worldwide as both an estimator and quantity surveyor during a long and successful career. He has worked as a senior quantity surveyor for some of the province’s largest construction companies. In 1996 he set up his own quantity surveying business and became an important member of the Mastercraft team. Denis has overall responsibility for preparing tenders, appointing sub-contractors and submitting valuations.


Contracts Managers

Senior Contracts Manager : Anthony Keenan

A civil engineer with over 30 years post qualification experience, Anthony joined Mastercraft Construction in 2007. He has since worked as a senior contracts manager on some of the company’s largest projects such as the residential developments at Antrim and Saintfield and the Serpentine Pavillion Project. He has extensive experience in delivering high profile contracts ranging in value from £0.1 million to £10 million.

Fit-Out Contracts Manager : Michael McCloskey

Following a joinery apprenticeship some 25 years ago, Michael moved to London where he gained an abundance of experience in the construction industry as a site manager in the fit-out sector. Michael has been instrumental in further developing the fit-out division within the company since he joined us in 2007. Michael and his team now provide a comprehensive fit-out service specialising in office and shop fit-outs.

General Contracts Manager : Shane Moore
After completing a joinery apprenticeship with Mastercraft in 1993 with qualifications in Building Construction and Management and Surveying and Levelling, Shane quickly moved on to site supervision in our joinery and roofing sector. From this he became site manager and has managed the entire joinery packages on the Renal, Maternity and Critical Care Units of the Ulster Hospital at Dundonald and also Armagh city’s highly acclaimed Market Theatre.

In recent years Shane was elevated to contracts manager and now also heads up the formwork team where he is responsible for cost control, purchasing and management in this sector of Mastercraft. His formwork projects include Fitzwilliam Hotel, Beech Hall Health and Well Being Centre and the new Lyric Theatre.

General Contracts Manager : Jimmy Bennett
Jimmy has come from a joinery trades background where he excelled as a craftsman before becoming involved with the supervision of joinery sub-contracts works. He joined Mastercraft in 1993 where his first task was the completion works at Antrim Area Hospital, closely followed by the joinery fit-out at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall.

Jimmy graduated to site manager where he has been involved in the carpentry and joinery segments of landmark buildings such as the BT Tower and Odyessy arena. Lately Jimmy has been appointed Contracts Manager and his portfolio in this role includes the new Cancer Centre at the City Hospital, the Crescent Arts Centre and the Victoria Square development to name but a few.


Administration Team

The administration is carried out by an excellent team with each member bringing their own area of expertise and experience in the construction industry to the company. Current and previous clients, suppliers and personnel have praised Mastercraft’s Administration team on their common sense approach and liaising skills when dealing with any queries they have had. As communication links between management and administration are constantly open this in turn leads to an efficient and rapid response to any queries that may arise for client, customer, supplier, personnel and operatives.
